On August 27, Operation Care International (OCI) held it's annual 'Summer Outreach at the Bridge'. This event ministers to the homeless at the Bridge, a shelter located at the Metro Dallas Homeless Alliance, and under the actual freeway overpasses of Interstate 45 where many homeless call 'home'. 42 volunteers arrived with big hearts and smiles for Jesus and the homeless.
The Outreach began with orientation and prayer at the Dallas Life Foundation. The volunteers then proceeded to the Bridge and divided into three teams. One team focused on the streets around the Bridge shelter, one team worked inside the Bridge facility, and the third team went under the overpasses. Personal care products, bottled water, Bibles, and gospel tracts were given to our grateful homeless friends.
The volunteers prayed for those who were willing to pray with us. Some of the homeless also prayed for our volunteers. OCI went to the Bridge thinking God was blessing the homeless through our efforts, but it was they who blessed us. We met many new friends, served and gave God the glory and praise for what He has done. Souls were won for Him that day! It was a privilege to serve the Lord through Operation Care International.
